Conductor, pedagogue, speaker

A versatile and passionate musician, Philippe Bourque made a reputation for himself in the last two decades on Montreal's classical music scene with different ensembles, including orchestras and choirs. His expertise ranges from early music to jazz, with a specialty for the large vocal-orchestral repertoire.

He is also a tenured teacher at Vanier College since 2010 and the artistic director of the St.-Lawrence Choir since 2014. Dedicated to investing in future generations of musicians, he has worked with numerous groups and schools including FACE High School, the Vincent-d’Indy School of Music, and McGill University. He is the recipient of a Lieutenant Governor’s Award at the Vincent-d’Indy School of Music and is a Fellow of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada’s Fellowship program for his graduate work on hymnology.
