Philippe Bourque is a Canadian conductor based in Montréal, active for nearly two decades in both orchestral and choral repertoire. His work spans early music to contemporary programs, with a particular focus on large-scale vocal-orchestral works. Recent highlights include serving as assistant conductor to Rafael Payare and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal for the opening concerts of the Festival de Lanaudière (July 2025), and conducting Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 to close the 85th season of the Orchestre classique de Montréal.

A tenured professor at Vanier College since 2010, he is committed to developing emerging musicians and has worked with institutions including FACE School, the Vincent-d’Indy School of Music, and McGill University. He is regularly invited as a clinician and adjudicator, and teaches conducting privately. He served as Artistic Director of the St.-Lawrence Choir from 2014 to 2025.

Philippe Bourque completed his Doctorate in Orchestral and Choral Conducting at McGill University in May 2024. His principal mentors include Guillaume Bourgogne, Jean-Sébastien Vallée, Julian Wachner, Robert Ingari, Alexis Hauser, and Ivars Taurins. He is a recipient of a Lieutenant Governor’s Award (Vincent-d’Indy) and received SSHRC support for graduate research on hymnology.
